Presentation slides that make audiences sit up instead of switch off

share your sustainability story in a presentation
Greenwashing isn’t just a big ol’ lie, it’s often a bunch of preachy bullshit too.
Doing good for the planet is good. But it’s also good for business. And, let’s be honest, not being a destructive heartless bastard is bare minimum.
By all means, share your sustainability initiatives, but let’s do it without the bullshit.
how to share your sustainability story
first step: actually do the good stuff
First step is to actually focus on doing the good before you start yapping about it. Figure out where you can make the most positive impact, what challenges are most prevalent in your communities, and give time, money, resource, knowledge to solving them.
That will take some time. Don’t worry, I’ll wait.
Because only then should you start communicating about sustainability.
here's how you can do that:
Get the people you’ve helped to tell the story for you. Whether it’s through testimonials, case studies or interviews, it will mean so much more coming from them.
Be honest about your goals and where you are along that path to progress. Building a more resilient world is a journey - and sharing your learnings, and how much more you have to do, may help other businesses on their own journeys. Protecting our planet for future generations is not a competition. There’s no reason not to show your workings.
Support your claims with evidence. Don’t just spout out all this holier than thou bullshit if you can’t back it up with measurable results.
Be transparent about how it’s helped your business.
Watch your tone. When people talk about sustainable initiatives, there are some core tropes: teacher reprimanding a naughty kid, braggy lil bitch, doom and gloom merchant. None of them are helpful. Not everyone has the privilege of making sustainable choices easily, so why not share your ideas instead of your judgement?
less cunt. more collaborative.
If you really want to change the world, start with yourself. Less cunt, more collaborative. It’s that simple.
