How to sell an idea: sales presentations that sell services, not products
Your story should never be about the stuff you’re selling.
But selling stuff is a lot harder when there’s no actual stuff.
Here’s how to sell your idea.
No one gives a fuck about features. This applies whether you’re selling physical items, ideas, or a cult—if you’re listing out specs, you’ve lost them. You need to paint a picture of how your service will brighten their future.
Do you help them cut through the noise? Do you give them time back? Do you transform their business into something exciting? Talk about the benefits and sell their future. A future where they’re more confident, more successful, more irresistible, and finally free of the shit that’s been holding them back.
But how are you going to know what a benefit is to them, what their dream life looks like, what selfish little button to press, if you haven't taken the time to understand your audience? If you don’t know what problem you’re solving, you’re not even going to get started. Book a consultation and let’s figure that shit out
It’s not a service, it’s a cult. People just want to belong. They want to be part of something bigger than themselves. They want to have something no one else does. They want to be elevated. They want exclusivity. If you can turn your offering into an extension of their dream identity, you’ll have people queuing around the block.
You can do this by getting influential people using your service—but that’s fucking expensive. You can do it for a lot less money by finding out their deepest desires and drawing a clear line between your skills and their dreams.
Once you’ve done that, back it up with evidence of how you’ve done it before, for people just like them, and that’s a bingo.
Cult leaders don’t blend in. Find your voice. What the fuck does that mean? Find your angle on a situation that no one else is saying, but your audience can all relate to. Be bold. Say what you really think. Call bullshit on their status quo. Stir them up. Make your passion infectious. Make them act. And get them excited about the transformation that’s ahead of them.
When you don’t have the option to show, your tell becomes heightened. Take the time to get to know your audience and tell a tailored story of the life they could be living if they just let you take the pain away
Reading is tough. Rest your weary eyes on this moving picture instead.
Warning: Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Saying what you’re supposed to say? Presenting how every boring business person presents? If you don’t claim your story you will become a statistic. You have been warned.
